As a part of their Spring 2015 Collection, Chanel brings us twelve new lip products, including new lipsticks, glosses and lip liners. Being a fan of lighter-weight lipsticks that feel a lot like lip balms, I picked up the two Rouge Coco Shines ($35 for 0.1oz/3g), Désinvolte and Étourdie.

In the tube, Désinvolte #97 is a vivid, slightly cool, coral red. When swatched, it's still bright, though not as bright as it is in the tube because it applies somewhat sheer. On the lips, it's juicy and luscious, with the perfect amount of color and brilliance. The rosiness of the lips shows through a bit and warms up the color to create a beautiful, pinky red-coral. Désinvolte has a soft, slightly creamy formula which glides evenly onto the lips. It lasts about two and a half to three hours on me.

Étourdie #98 is a medium, cool, rosy fuchsia pink with silver sparkle. Swatched, it's fairly bright, and a little lighter than it is in the tube. On the lips, Étourdie is a bit more subtle than when swatched. It adds a flush of color with luminous shine. The cool color looks almost neutral on my lips, with some of my natural lip color showing through. The silver shimmer can be seen on the lips, but it isn't distracting, rather it gives the lips an extremely, lustrous shine. It has a smooth, velvety texture which applies effortlessly onto the lips. Étourdie lasts about two and a half to three hours on me.

Rouge Coco Shines are, at times, a hit or miss for me. I love them, but sometimes they are just so sheer they leave no color behind. Both Désinvolte and Étourdie are wonderfully pigmented and brighten the face. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Étourdie - it's a beautiful rosy pink with a hint of shimmer - just stunning and a standout in my collection. The shades are perfect for spring, but I know I will find myself wearing them the rest of the year as well.

I purchased Désinvolte and Étourdie from Nordstrom. They are also available from Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf Goodman and Chanel.

Did you pick up any of the lip products from Chanel's spring collection? What's your favorite lip color for spring?

  1. Hey Sunny,
Now how did I know that you would want Désinvolte? LOL. We love our corals. I agree - we always see berry shades in the fall and winter and it's good to see a variation of it in the spring as well. Both of these have good pigmentation and wear time - they are a nice addition to the permanent line.

  3. Hi Joyce,
I can't believe you don't have any Chanel lipsticks! That's so hard to believe. i don't have as many Chanels as some other brands, like Tom Ford or Armani - Rouge Ecstasy is possibly my favorite formula ever. I've never tried the Rouge Double Intensite - I'm not really a fan of long lasting lipsticks like that - though the colors for spring look really pretty.

  4. i tend not to like long lasting lipsticks in that style, but this one is really good actually. I don't know why, but i bought a rouge coco or shine once ages ago, didn't really love it, and never really looked back lol!

  5. I tend to like sheer, moisturizing lipsticks, like Rouge Coco Shines the best, so that's what I usually stick to as far s Chanel lipsticks go. My favorite formula is Armani's Rouge Ecstasy. I can't get enough of those! lol.
