Along with Jardin de Chanel Blush Camélia Rosé, Chanel released a second cheek product with the Rêverie Parisienne Collection, a Joues Contraste, Angélique, which joins the permanent range. It's the perfect shade for spring, the type of color I'm naturally drawn to. I've been wearing it everyday since I got it, even though we are in the midst of winter.

Angélique #190 ($45 for 0.21oz/6g) is a gorgeous, bright, pinky-coral glowy matte. It's like the opposite of Camélia Rosé. While Camélia Rosé is subdued and dusty, Angélique is bright and lively. It illuminates the face and imparts a lit-from-within flush. It's soft, smooth and finely-milled and kicks up the barest dusting of excess powder. It looks extremely vivid in the pan, but when worn, it's noticeably toned down and softened. It goes on semi-sheer, but it has good, buildable pigmentation, that isn't overpowering or easy to overdo. I can see this shade being flattering for a wide variety of skin tones. Angélique lasts about eight and a half to nine hours on me before I notice any fading.

Between Angélique and Camélia Rosé, Angélique is without a doubt my favorite. It's the sort of shade I feel my best in and tend to wear the most often. It's one of those blushes that seems to become a part of the skin rather than just sitting on top of it. Even though it's a matte blush, it seems to have a subtle sheen to it. It simply screams spring. If you can only get one of the two blushes released with Chanel's spring collection, make sure it's Angélique.

I purchased Angélique from Neiman Marcus. It is also available at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman and Chanel.

Which of the blushes from Chanel's spring collection is your favorite? What blush shades are you most drawn to?

  1. We really do have similar tastes in blushes! I think I might like this one more than Camelia Rose: I wear pinky corals all the time :)

  2. Is this ever GLOWY on you! I have a lot of trouble pulling off colours like this (my face has too much of a natural flush in it for anything this bright), but WOW are they ever pretty.

  3. You have a lovely selection of corals on your arm! *licks*
Angelique's finish is beautifully soft on your skin! Such a pretty color.

  4. Hi Sunny,
We do! I know you love pinky corals as much as I do. I like both of the blushes, but if I was forced to choose, I would pick Angélique over Camélia Rosé. Camélia Rosé has a beautiful design, but Angélique just looks so much prettier on. Can't wait to see what you pick up!

  5. Hi Rae,
Angélique does seem to have a slight glow to it, which is surprising since it's a matte blush. I was a bit worried when I first saw it that it would be too intense on me, but fortunately it's not. I wouldn't think anything would be hard for you to wear. I mean, you're gorgeous hun. Though I know what you mean - I don't feel like I can pull off bright lipsticks very well, lol.

  6. Hi Belly,
LOL. Angélique is certainly a surprise favorite for me. I was not expecting to love it as much as I do. I'm definitely glad it's permanent.
