This Spring, Giorgio Armani is refreshing his blush line. With a new name and a wider variety of shades, these blushes have a texture which redefines smooth and silky. The seven shades encompassing the line come in colors from barely-there to bold and bright.

I selected Skin #502 Cheek Fabric Sheer Blush ($46 for 0.14oz/4g) to start with. It comes packaged in the black pocketbook that I've come to associate with Armani. It has a snap closure instead of a magnetic one, and there is no brush kept in a hidden tier beneath the blush. Skin #502 is a light, warm, delicate, tea rose with a softly glowing, satiny matte finish. There is faint gold and pink shimmer that is visible in the pan, that imparts a delicate flush to the face that is not in any way shimmery or glittery. A few tiny sparkles can be seen when the face is turned this way or that, as the light reflects off of them.

What makes this blush so special is the texture. When I said that it redefines the terms smooth and silky, I wasn't kidding. This is by far, the softest, most luxurious blush I've ever felt. The color is remarkably wearable. It works brilliantly for my skin tone and brightens my face as well, though it may not show up well on darker skin tones. It layers and blends beautifully, without leaving any harsh edges, and it's virtually impossible to overdo it. It glides over my skin effortlessly and doesn't emphasize any lines or pores.

When I first went to pull comparisons for Skin #502, I thought for sure it would be like Chanel Sakura Joues Contraste which I know a lot of people missed out on. Sadly though, they aren't as similar as I had thought. Sakura is the closest in tone and finish, though it is a cooler toned, peachy pink, whereas Skin #502 is a warm toned, pinky peach. The texture of Sakura is drier and quite a bit harder than Skin #502. Chanel Rose Initial Joues Contraste is much darker and rosier, however it is extremely velvety and finely-milled. Hourglass Diffused Heat Ambient Lighting Blush is pinker, darker and the shimmer is more pronounced than Skin #502, with a texture that is not quite as satiny and a little powdery. Tom Ford Frantic Pink is the closest to Skin #502 in terms of color and the texture is again close. The sparkle in Frantic Pink is more apparent and the overall finish is shimmery than in Skin #502.

It's as if Skin #502 becomes a part of the skin, rather than just sitting on the surface, like so many other powder blushes do. Both the quality and finish of this blush are beyond my expectations, so much so, that I've already gone ahead and ordered another one. Definitely my favorite blush of the season and highly recommended.

I purchased Skin #502 at Saks, where it is currently unavailable. It is available at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

Do you think you will try one of Giorgio Armani's new Cheek Fabric Blushes? What is your favorite new blush for Spring?

  6. Hey Sunny,
I fell hard for this blush, like the instant I swatched it. I think the texture and formula are truly remarkable. It lasts on me 8 1/2 to 9 hours before I notice any fading. Let me know if you decide to pick any up.

  9. Hey Belly,
Well, these certainly aren't as expensive as the LE releases as of late (thankfully). It's a different texture/formula, but I think it's just as good. You definitely need one!
