Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Millenium, Swatches and Review, Mystic Metallics, Fall 2013

When Dior's Mystic Metallics Collection first started appearing online, I saw the palettes come up. Then I saw the lipsticks and lip glosses come up. And I kept thinking to myself--where's the rest of it? I kept searching and searching, but to no avail. When the Mono Eyeshadows finally did start showing up and I knew exactly which one I wanted. Millenium.

The Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow ($30 for .22oz/6.5g) is a new, permanent addition to the House of Dior. It's a formula we've seen before--a long-lasting eyeshadow with a "mousse-gel" texture, that has a sparkling, multifaceted finish. The texture is most similar to Chanel Illusion d'Ombres. The Fusion Mono Eyeshadows come in eight shades:
  • 001 Lune-an icy white
  • 021 Etoile-a light silver
  • 081 Adventure-a smoky gunmetal black
  • 281 Cosmos-a midnight blue
  • 381 Millenium-a khaki/olive
  • 661 Meteore-a lush copper
  • 821 Chimere-a opalescent pink
  • 881 Hypnotique-a dusky purple

The Fusion Mono Eyeshadows come housed in a small, glass pot with a screw-on lid with a capped, softly pointed applicator brush that can be "put together" and extended during use. The applicator tip is firmer than a traditional applicator and has a slight rubbery feel. The Fusion Mono Eyeshadows have that texture that is oh-so-hard to describe--but yet feels wonderful, you just want to keep on playing. That ethereally light as air, oh so soft, utterly blendable, bounce-back consistency.

Millenium 381 Fusion Mono Eyeshadow is a golden khaki with multi-colored shimmer. I have to admit--at first I didn't realize this was an olive shade. It certainly doesn't look that way in the promo pictures and it didn't in the container. It does now--now that I know to look for it. I was thinking it was this gold/platinum combination. It's that hard to pin down to one color. It really is a chameleon.

Millenium changes in the light--at times appearing more olive, khaki or bronze. Like all the other eyeshadows of this nature, it has a gleaming, rather metallic appearance. It's texture is a bit drier than that of the Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Eyeshadows--though that does not hinder it's performance in the slightest. It can be applied "softly" with the fingertips or "boldly" with an applicator/and or wet. It does last an extremely long time on me--without primer--10 hours or so. Though I have read a few accounts of Dior's Fusion Mono Eyeshadows popping right out of the container--so I would be extra careful with these. You do get more product per dollar than Illusion d'Ombres though.

Overall, I really love eyeshadow formulas like this. The feeling when you run your fingertip over it--how satiny smooth they are. How if I didn't look, I would never know anything had transferred--they are so feather-light. The color payoff is incredible and they can create so many diverse looks--from simplistic to complex. So, I have to say that I really enjoyed Millenium. I just wish that there were more shades in the range, though.

    1. Millenium is really pretty. It was my first choice--but now I think I might go back for Hypnotique. That looks stunning, too. If you do pick up Millenium--I can't wait to hear what you think.

    1. They are basically just like Chanel's Illusion d'Ombre. I'm so sorry to hear that you will have to pass on these. They aren't my absolute favorite eyeshadow in the world--but I did like them.
