Fall is my favorite time of the year. No, it's not just because my birthday is in fall. It's due to many things--like the smell of burning leaves, the cool breezes, the start of the holiday season. But most of all, I love fall makeup collections. I got super excited for Chanel's Fall 2013 Superstition Collection when I first saw promo pictures a few months ago. Ever since--I started counting down. Who knew--that for me, fall would come early.
With six different lipsticks to choose from--narrowing it down to just one (for now) was insanely hard. Seeing CharlestonGirl's review and swatches of four of the shades, made it a lot easier. I opted not to get either of the two I had been mulling over--for fear that they would be too sheer. Instead I picked up Rendez-Vous.

Rendez-Vous 87 Rouge Coco Shine ($34 for 0.1oz/3g) is described as an "intense blue pink."

Rendez-Vous is a medium rosy pink crème, with a slight blue undertone. I wasn't sure how this would look on me when I got it, much less when I ordered it, but I was happily surprised. It has excellent color payoff. It's bright--but not neon bright. When worn, the warmth in my lips tones down the pink just a touch--making it absolutely perfect. Even my fiancée likes it. I put it on and he said "That's pretty, what is that?" Usually I get "that's nice" or "that's okay". So, for him to say that Rendez-Vous is pretty--means that this baby is a winner.

I pulled out Tom Ford's Quiver for a quick comparison. They are fairly close in color, though Quiver is a bit lighter and has subtle golden shimmer, while Rendez-Vous is pure shine. The formula on these is similar however, being that they are both sheer, hydrating lipsticks. Tom Ford's Ravenous would probably be closer to Rendez-Vous--but alas, I don't have that.
Bottom line, I LOVE Rendez-Vous. I didn't think I would--I thought it would be too intense for me, but it's not. It sheers out perfectly. It's a "my lips but better shade--in a kiss of pink"--if that makes any sense. I'm already thinking about ordering another one--and it's not even a Limited Edition. That's how good this one is. Even if it reminds me more of Spring more than Fall--I'll happily wear it year round.
Rendez-Vous is available at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. Chanel Superstition has already started arriving at local counters as well.
